The history of the Friedrich Gampper KG

Important products:

1924 / 1925

Tare weights made of brass from 1 gram up to 1,5 kilogram and in many foreign weight units. Single weights, weight sets in wooden boxes, stack weights

1928 / 1930

Construction, patent application and market launch of the first NIL flusher named:  Toilet flusher "NIL". Besonderheiten: Luftkanal im Hebel and eingeschliffene Steuerkolben aus Rotguss ohne Kolbenmanschette.

1929 / 1931

Construction, patent application and market launch of the toilet flusher  "NIL-ASRAK".

Highlights: This flusher did not contain a piston valve, but a membrane flush valve.

1930 / 1932

Construction, patent application and market launch of a toilet tank named  NIL-ASSUAN". A simultaneous market launch of NIL – flush valves and NIL - toilet tanks turned out to be quite difficult, so that  Friedrich Gampper decided to concentrate on flush valves.

1932 / 1933

Construction, patent application and market launch of the second generation of NIL-flush valves. The flush valves named  "NIL-GM" were available in three versions:  a standard flusher with 3/4"connection thread, a low-pressure version with 1" connection thread and, for the first time within our product range, a 1/2” urinal flush valve.

1933 / 1934

"NIL-stop valves" and  "NIL- taps"are included into our program. "NIL- angle valvesin  1/2" and 3/8", in a light and a heavy version, with handles made of brass, Bakelite and iron are produced.

1934 / 1936

The flusher series named "NIL-GM"- 1/2",- 3/4" and 1" are now also available with push button operation. On request, Friedrich Gampper provides you with a practically compression fitting to connect the flusher with the flush pipe.

1948 / 1955

Friedrich Gampper faced up to the requirements of social housing in the postwar period, which meant that he had to produce as many flushers as possible in a very good quality at a very low price, splitting up his successful prewar series "NIL-GM" -1/2", -3/4" and -1" into two technically identical and equivalent, in production cost and sales price different flusher series.

The models A 32- 3/4" and A 32-1" as direct successors of the prewar series and and the new flushers C 52-3/4" and C 52- 1/2" as a cheaper alternative for social housing followed. For the first time, these  NIL - flushers were tested and certified according to the new DIN 3265.

Within the  1950s, the company Friedrich Gampper produced in addition to the lever operated flushers also flushers with push button operation.for WC in the dimension of 3/4" and 1" and 1/2" (for urinals). These flushers were named model 55- 3/4", model 55-1" and model 56-1/2". Additionally, more and more angle valves in sizes of  3/8" and 1/2", operated with plastic or metal handle, or  with a square-hole cap, were produced.. Also available were slanted-seat valves, Stop valves for flush valves and copper pipes.

1960

The first noise damped flusher model Silenta is launched. Its noise values are approx. 25 % below the former levels of the standard flusher. This flusher is also tested according to DIN 3265 and has been given a test registration no.. Two years later, the model Silenta had to be renamed due to a name collision to  S 60-3/4". Friedrich Gampper constructed also a low-pressure model - S 60-1".

1963 / 1964

With the self-closing, time operated straight way valves, model series 900, used as shower valves in  baths or sports facilities, or as draw-off valves, together with the foot operated NIL- valves for toilets, urinals and taps, the company Friedrich Gampper launched two new construction of Wilfried Zumsteeg. According patent applications followed.

1963

New NIL-angle valves are prodcued. The former angle valves with 1/4"-, 3/8"- oder 1/2"- upper part and different grip versions made of brass and Bakelite are replaced by a so called standard angle valve, being produced in 3/8" and 1/2", available in a short or long version  with sliding rosette. The characteristic sign of this valve series is the upper part with the crown shaped grip cap.

1968 / 1969

Changes within the DIN 3265 effected, that the flusher series A 32-3/4" and C 52-3/4" were replaced by the models A 68 and D 69. These flushers meet with the requirements of the DIN 3265 of the year 1966. Successful models, which are produced in big quantities up to the present day.

1968

The flusher model Silomat is a very silent flush valve, which not only meets with the requirements of the DIN 3265, but also with the new DIN 4109, a noise protection norm of structural engineering. This flusher also has a test registration no. Operating at a noise level far below 20 decibe, this flusher is quite ahead of the times, but the constructors at the Friedrich Gampper company continue to work on a flusher that is not only nearly operating absolutely silently and meets with all norm requirements, but also accommodates with the water quality of that time, getting worse nearly day by day. Further, this flusher had to be extremely cheap in production costs.

1972 / 1976

A new chapter of  NIL- flusher production is written. Harold Gampper and Walter Gampper construct the  model FG 72 . Low-noise and a very robust operation are the main signs of this new NIL- flusher. The fully automatically operating flow rate throttle becomes German Patent. This flusher is also available in a concealed version.

1977

The series 900 of the straight way valves for shower units is replaced by the new series 700, which offers not only technical improvements, but also meets with the new design standards of that time. The self closing valves of the series 700 are also used in combination with thermostatic mixers for shower systems and simple draw-off taps. The very robust control piston, which also contains the time control unit, is patented.

1978 / 1980

The urinal flusher model DK 78 replaces the model 56 and sets new design benchmarks, not only within the Gampper company. The urinal flusher for concealed installation, model UPD 32-1/2" covers the increasing demand for concealed flushing units.

1982 / 1984

Facing extreme cost pressure producing angle valves, the Gampper company launchs a totally new constructed angle valve series. This new construction reduces the parts of the angle valves and allows the use of an assembly machine. The so called grip spindle of the angle valve is applied for patent. These new angle valves named "NILplus" are also available with an individual customer logo. This feature, along with a very competitive pricing structure, is the key benefit of the new angle valve series.

1985

The Friedrich Gampper company proves that also flush valves can have an up-to-date design, with the new models of the NILplus - series. The award of the  Design-Center Stuttgart for the toilet flusher NILplus 2001 and the urinal flusher NILplus 2003, the test and the certification  according to DIN 3265 and the compliance with the noise levels according to DIN 4109 are the major elements of the market launch. The new working principle of the  NILplus- flusher series is patented by the GermanPatent Office..

1986 / 1987

In addition to the self closing shower valves of the series 700, the Gampper company offers water saving shower heads, too.

1990 / 1992

The designer of valves of the sanitary industrie design more and more valves in trendy colours. The Gampper company is fully up-to-date, offering the new NILplus Topform and NILplus Topform bicolor series. Extraordinarily proud is the management of the company, that the design comes from the own staff.
